The National Institutes of Health commissioned us to produce a series of public service announcements for a Spanish speaking audience. The approach taken was a series of 30 and 60 second episodes patterned after the popular
telenovela style.
The brief episodes centered around a typical family with all the trials and tribulations of a "telenovela." In the course of the micro-series we got to know the characters well and their need to watch their blood pressure, to quit smoking, to exercise and to maintain a balanced diet.
Each episode ends with the slogan "...mas vale prevenir que lamentar" -- loosely translated -- "...it's better to prevent than to lament." We shot the spots in Caracas, Venezuela. The micro-series is still airing nationally over Univision.
The "misunderstood" teenage daughter being consoled by ever-wise grandmother
The skeptical father undergoing all the problems of raising two teenagers.
The source of dad's hypertension - his daughter's new boyfriend. Of course, a poor diet also contributes to his condition.
